Isabella on Christine's Quilt / French Toasts

This is Isabella on one of Christine's baby quilts. I cannot believe that 20 years have already passed since Christine was on this quilt and played with her baby toys! She keeps her another baby quilt with appliqued bears at her apartment in Irvine. Time flies, but good memories stay.

Isabella looks so happy on this quilt.

Time for brunch!
Jun and I had french toasts sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Granny Smith cooked with raw sugar and maple syrup both go well with them.

Koto Presentations in May

Lily and Isabella stopped over this afternoon. Isabella had only taken a short nap(11 minutes!), but she was happy most of the time. She liked the sweet potato from jar, but she seems to like the real bananas better. While Lily was nursing her I boiled and mashed kuri-kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) for Lily to take home and try to give Isabella later on. Hope she liked it.

After Lily nursed Isabella, it was time for us to eat!
We had crackers with cheese and green apples.

We also had Zucchini Bread I baked this morning.

My koto partner and I have been practicing for May events. We have three coming up!

This is how koto music looks like.

These are the two kotos I have at home.

My friends and I at McA2 Creative Incubator.
I did koto presentation for a program by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce in Feburary.

Ideal husband?

Over the weekend my husband, Jun, had installed a brand new kitchen faucet! The old one was deteriorating, hard to clean, and looked awful! He fixes most anything, especially electronic devices.

A couple of weeks ago, Christine's lap top was not working properly. We sent her one of the desk tops via UPS while she sent hers to us. Jun thoroughly cleaned inside the computer with cotton swabs dabbed in kirsch (45% alcohol!) and fixed the problem! It was just so dirty that it got overheated easily. Hope Christine knows how to clean her room at least.....

You can leave your comments now!

Lily helped me fix the problem of my blog. Now you can leave your comments. Feel free!

We have a visitor?

We have a visitor since the day before yesterday until Tuesday. Yes, Chico, Alicia's dog, is with us! Alicia has gone to St. Luis for a conference, but the day before she were to leave the sitter for Chico did not show up! Her another choice, vet, was also full that day, so I have decided to look after him this time.

Tamarindo usually takes naps in the patio, but he realizes someone is taking his place.

So, he decides to take his on the couch instead.....

Junko and Chico have been taking two walks a day, 2 rounds around the neighbor in the morning and 2 more at night. He seems to take this change OK, although he seems to miss Alicia very much.

Sushi Lunch

Lily with Isabella, Martha, and Amanda came over for Sushi Lunch.

California rolls have red leaf lettuce, egg, Japanese mayonnaise, imitation crab meat, and avocados. We also had miso soup and salmon teriyaki!

For dessert, we had chocolate chip ice cream with waffers, strawberries, and apple mint from my herb garden. Oh, with green tea, off course!

Baking is fun!

Recently, I have been baking quite often. I baked cinnamon rolls and pizza with my favorite bread dough, which has boiled potatoes in it! Believe it or not, potatoes make the bread nice and moist. This recipe is perfect for Japanese An-Pan, which is a sweet bread with red azuki beans!

John Hargis Hall, where we started our campus tour.

Red McCombs School of Business

John and I at the Statue of Longhorn
John, Jun, and I went to Austin to attend a campus tour at UT Austin. We are glad that John will be going to McCombs School of Business there. Half a century ago, my Dad went to UT Austin as a Fulbright scholar. Kind of cool, isn't it?

My First Blog in English

Hello, everyone!
I just celebrated my 40 + birthday yesterday.
My friend, Lily, showed me how to set up a blog in English, so that my English speaking friends can keep track of me. Please visit my blog to see how we are doing!
